Here's something else that's really frightening. I knew someone who was going through law enforcement training and they wanted to tazer all the trainees so they would know what it felt like. My friend refused, thank goodness. (They also mace trainees.)

I propose a training exercise for police before they use the device:

1. they have to drink the equivalent of a 6-pack of beer
2.they have to run 1Km on a track as fast as they can;
3. they get tasered
4. they get positioned face down for 2 minutes with 2 other police sitting on top of them.

those that survive and are still able to work get to use the device.

Ame i,

Clearly that is not the point. Whatever they were doing it must be wrong to have police using lethal force in such cases. They are meant to be law enforcers, not executioners.

My question is this. I am currently attending college and have taken student loans to cover the expense. Can my husband's GI bill benefits be transferred to me to cover those student loans? I will graduate in two semesters. The new bill seems to no be retroactive to school already attended and paid for, only school attended AFTER August 1, 2009? It also puts a date that children need to attend by. Our children are small. My question is simply, it will be at least 8 years before the first of our children attend college. If his GI benefit will expire before they attend, can it they be used to repay my Student loan debts as long as they are inactive and do not have to begin repayment (as long as I am a fulltime student)? If you don't have the answer, is there someone I can call to check on this possibility?

I was delighted to stumble upon your blog. I love the way you don't apologize for the winding path your life has taken. I just married for the fourth time last summer. To make matters even more interesting, my husband is 17 years younger than me. Though many people have been taken aback by our relationship, we are so happy together. I love my William like a fat kid loves cake! I wake up humble and grateful every morning at how wonderful my life is. It's more than I ever could have expected or dreamed of. The only cloud is that sometimes I feel self-conscious when I'm around people whose lives have run along a more conventional course--women can be so catty and mean sometimes. Reading your blog has made me smile. I've made a resolution as of this morning to stand tall at all times and to never again allow anyone make me feel like some kind of lesser person for being a serial monogamist.

I'm not trying to make light of the fact that these people lost their lives, but there are very few times when someone is tazered when the were just walking around minding their own business.

I shopped the original Trader Joe's location in Pasadena back in the mid-Seventies, back then, a small convenience store on South Lake Avenue.

Having shopped occasionally shopped at the Santa Fe, NM store, I found it to be just another name for Wal*Mart; a grocery store for wealthy people too cheap to buy better products. I find their products un-edible due to the multi ingredients in them that have no place in some products. Eggs and peanuts in particular seem to be in everything.
